Nebraska is brilliant!
Everything is so green that it reminds me of photos of Ireland where
there are multiple shades of green.
Gentle rolling hills, trees, small towns – lovely drive! Iowa is not the same but I’m hard pressed to
specify exactly what makes it feel different.
Stopped in Oakland NE (Swedish capitol of Nebraska) and had
a coffee and cinnamon roll that was to die for and fresh out of the oven. When we got to Sioux City IA we bought some
gas and then Norm said he saw a Hobby Lobby and wanted to stop in there. We got to the Hobby Lobby and he realized he
had left his bag with phone and wallet on top of the gas pump so we rushed back
to the gas station. Several anxious
minutes later when we arrived, of course, there was no bag on the pump. Norm went into the little store and someone
had turned it in – whew! Talk about the
luck of the Irish!
We had to stop in Le Mars IA, “the ice cream capitol of the
world” and then had an interesting lunch at Taco John’s in Sheldon IA.
Here we are this evening in Spirit Lake IA and for the first
time since Flagstaff, we are able to sit outside and will not need to have the
a/c running all night. What a treat!
Tomorrow into Minnesota and heading to Thunder Bay, Ontario to visit friends from back in the Toronto days.
