Made a short stop at Pecos National Historic Park and saw
the church and ruins and we pushed to put some miles on.
The rest of the day was just flat land for the most part and
nothing to stop and look at. We were in
Oklahoma half an hour when we ran into thunder, lightning, rain and hail. Forgot to take any photos in the middle of
all this as Norm kept saying we should turn around and I kept saying no, it’s
an hour and a half back to a small town and ahead 20 miles to an actual town. We were in that storm 20-30 minutes and then
got through the other end. However, I
opened up the app StormEye on my phone which was showing yellows (severe
thunder storms) and reds (tornado) so I was freaking out a bit. Eventually, I figured out how to have it show
exactly where we were in relation to all these colors and we were actually not
in the middle at all.
There was a KOA campground in Clayton NM and we walked
around the town a little and decided to drive on 100 miles to where the next
campground was supposed to be since it was 3 pm and 95 degrees. Well, we got to Guymon, OK and there were no
campgrounds to be found so we’ve ended up in a motel. Very disappointing after we just got the RV
back after several days in a hotel. We’re
going to have to plan a little better.
