June 18 - Grants AZ

We went to Petrified Forest National Park this morning.  WOW and again, WOW.  What an experience.  Originally we were just going to stop in the Visitor’s Center and do a short loop but after 3 miles we decided it would be criminal not to go through the entire park (a 30 mile drive.)  What did we see here?  Petrified forests, Painted Desert, ruins, petroglyphs and tepees (layered blues, purples and grays created by iron, carbon, manganese and other minerals that stand in cone-shaped formations.)  Photos of some of these have been added to the photo album.

At the KOA last night we were surprised to be offered dinner and breakfast, made to order at the common area of the campground.  Today, however, this KOA offers a menu of dinner items that are delivered to your campsite and tomorrow’s breakfast is free.  Fabulous!
