Managed to get at least some of the chores done. The internet connection here is so slow that
I gave up and only paid what absolutely had to get paid today and will hope for
a better connection as we go on.
We drove around Lincoln to see what it was all about. The downtown is lovely and in fact, the whole
city is obviously well maintained so a very pleasant drive. We went to the State Capitol Building which
proved to be an experience (great if you like small, tight spaces.) When we walked in it felt like we were in a
cave, very dark and very closed in with no windows or outside light. We took the elevator to the top floor as we
were told there was an observation deck up there. Yikes!
The elevator is TINY, slow, made noises and shook. To get in the door, I could just barely push
the walker inside that’s how wide it was and then inside the car itself, you
could maybe have 4 people.
On the top floor, the hallways were just wide enough to
accommodate the walker and two people could not walk along side by side; if you
met someone you each had to put your back to the wall in order to pass each
other. It was so claustrophobic.
When we stopped to get some groceries, we noticed a
restaurant in the plaza called Phat Jack’s BBQ and Norm decided he wanted a
pulled pork sandwich so in we went. The
food was delicious and inside the walls were lined with trophies and various
awards this guy Jack has won for his cooking.
We discovered that he is in many competitions and just closes the
restaurant on those days (these closures are posted on his website.) A definite return visit if we are ever in
this area again.
